Neuroaffirming Zones of Regulation for Parents & Teachers
The Zones of Regulation is a widely used framework designed to help children recognise their feelings and body states using colours. But over time, many adults have been taught to use it as a behaviour management tool — where “green” is seen as good and other zones are seen as problems to fix.
This resource offers a gentle, neuroscience-informed reframe.
Regulation isn’t about making children look calm. It’s about helping their nervous system feel safe, supported, and understood.
Instead of asking, “How do I get this child back to green?”
this guide helps you ask, “What is this child’s body telling us right now, and how can I help?”
Perfect for parents, teachers, therapists, and support staff.
